Correct Understanding to Nutrition & Diet

I am so happy by the immense love and support you have shown in my previos topics on my both Blogs on Finance and Health.

There a lot of Nutritionist & Dieticians to give you an overview and right meaning of Healhty Nutrition & Diet. In addition to that, I would like to bring to your notice the following points for the same:


  • First know your basic Body Constitution (Body prakruti) from an Ayurvedic Physician
  • Know and observe the fine details of Nature in terms of Seasons and Daily Routine of Mother Nature, Planetary Configurations, our body system & processes with respect to timings during a day.
  • Understand the impact of climatic changes, seasons have on our overall body and body - systems.
  • Do's (Pathya) and Donts' (Apathyas) to be followed.
  • Proper Adherance to Daily and Seasonal Diet regimen.
  • Proper Cooking vessels, importance and use of different vessels for cooking
  • Correct choice of fruits and vegetables, especially get the know - how of locally produced.
  • Know-how of staple food

  • Understanding and accepting the fact that Nature is so kind enough to provide all foods, Herbs, etc in and around local areas for health solutions.
  • Understand the difference between Naturally grown, Organic, Chemical - based farm produce and their impacts on our physical and mental Health
  • There is wonderful concept of Bach Flower remedy too, for Mental health specifically, medicine from extracts from special flowers. You can contact me for the same.

Straight From Pan to Plate !!!!



Hello Friends,

Recently, I heard one of Sadguruji’s video on Culinary and Cooking skills. I heard a lovey phrase, which became the Today's Topic:” STRAIGHT FROM PAN TO PLATE"

Our ancestors were not so literate, but definitely learnt through their experience and observation. I was lucky to have my Grand-mom (DADI around. Her wise cooking skills, Home remedies were unmatchable and so to the point, that kept me pondering on the amount of and quality of Knowledge.

I want to emphasize here, the benefits of our age-old Indian Culture for Food, Cooking, Storage and Diet & Nutrition. The best thing that has happened in this Pandemic is the Come-back of the same and time - tested Food, Diet and Medicine Models.

Facts and Problem:-

Today's fast and busy lifestyle, has given new dimensions to Food and Diet for people. Be it Fast Food or Street Food or Cold Foods or Stale Food or Packaged Foods or Pre-Mix foods or Instant Mix Foods or Storage Foods in Refrigerator, Freezers

Today's habit to store food, chutneys, sauces in refrigerators has only added problems to our health.
If you do not agree, then try this simple exercise. Do you need more of spicy and tanginess to the already properly cooked food with proper spices? Do you get cravings for something more "Chat-patta Foods" now and then?  Do you feel the need to add some more tanginess to your food?

If the answer is Yes, then let me introduce to you the fact that it’s because of the extra acidic and toxic levels of your current food, the loosing of sense of Taste has occurred gradually without our notice. There is a coating on your tongue, which makes you feel that the food is not spicy and you need to add more spices, tangy sauces on it.

So, the complaints of Acidity, Constipation, Indigestion, Irregular sleeps, Loss of Appetite has increased in Maximum people today.

Major problems are due to Food, Diet and Nutrition Mis-management and Improper Cooking styles.

Solution:-

Now, lot of research papers have come up by many companies here in India and abroad, stating which utensils are good for cooking, the medicinal herbs and spices used in cooking, correct way of cooking, etc. To the irony, we already in India, have these written in our scriptures.

Here, I come to my topic – “Straight from Pan to Plate” It means, “Eat Freshly Cooked Food than Stale and Stored Foods”.

In Developed countries and now in India too, we have seen that this above concept has eluded over the period. So, it’s always a good practice to follow the Correct Cooking Style, Correct Food habits, Correct Dietary Regimen, Correct Use of Fresh, Organic Foods, spices, Oil, Ghee, etc

It is important to understand the importance of our precious Life, our Health over all the Materialistic things. We should not compromise on our Health. Thus, don’t be lethargic or give an excuse of busy work schedules for Storing cooked foods, use of packaged foods, etc.

It is always beneficial to adapt to Healthy living. Consuming Freshly cooked foods should be a part of your Health & Diet Regimen. Many Vegetables like Cabbage, Lady-finger, gourds cause gastric problems, if cooked in less oil, more of water, partly cooked, eaten stale or kept refrigerated even overnight.

Hence, follow this rule of consuming cooked food straight from Pan to plate and say no to storage, refrigeration, unhealthy dietary regimen. This Concept is one of the many dietary changes we require to make today for Healthy life and Disease -free Body.

YOGA AND MEDITATION

Yoga And Meditation in my life


Yoga has lot of defination. the Basic one is is TO JOIN (Self with the Vast, The Truth, The Almighty, Soul)
Meditation is one of the tool for the end goal of Yoga.
Today, Yoga, at many places is considered just a form of exercise, mere weight - loss program, Fitness programs, a Stress Buster Tool.
Well, nothing bad in it, as far as you are getting Self-aware of your health and fitness. However, Yoga and its benefits are much more than the above mentioned goals

I used to learn Karate - Martial Arts (at the age of 13 years maybe) It was a great source of energy and self-worth. I had learnt  "GOJU RYU" style, which was ver effective mentally and physically. However, due to some mishap, I was advised to discontinue it. But I was adamant to pursue something, which kept me fit always. So, after a lot of enquiry, I found one Yoga Class - Teaching Traditional yoga.

To my surprise, since I had Joined a 5.30 am batch, we had Just 5 of youth people out of the 30 batch. But, that experience of the Yoga - class was superb. Fortunately, I had one of my Karate Teacher also amongst the Teachers. That 1 - 1.5 hours daily, was my food for rejuvenation and life.

I still did not have much kowledge of what Yoga is. As, I believe, if you have any dream or a priority-based goal in life, it will fructify, maybe immediately or later in life. After my marriage, I saw the passion for Yoga in my Father in Law, who is a renowned Senior Ophthalmologist and Eye surgeon. He was always so instrumental in the Health Regime and awareness to me.

My Brother - in - law, is also an experieced Yoga Professor in Somaiya College, Practisioner of Therapeutic Yoga. He was the one reason, due to whom, me and my husband joined Yoga Teachers' Course. At first, since I had no ambition to become a Yoga Teacher. But, due to persuasion of my family members, I enrolled for it. I do not regret the decision. Some of the disciplined Yoga, Meditative Practices, bought about a great change in my mind-set, outlook for The Real Yoga.

Yoga Brings in a Discipline in life

>  It is not just asanas, but a combination of asanas, cleanising process of Body, Mind, Soul, Pranayam practises and Meditation.

Just doing Areobics or many kind of today's Modern Yogic Forms, I only conclude, they are a good form to bring Vitality and energy in you. But, Yoga is all about Being Aware of your Body, Mind and Soul.

>  I saw that, this Self-Awareness Benefit obtained from Yoga, helps you in overall living life, doing your work, your whole Body language changes for good. I also saw Iyenger Yoga too, has lot of benefits for Easy Yoga and Good Flexibility to Body. The Correct Stretches, the Correct Poise, The Correct Awareness is the Key to Correct Yoga.

>  Hence, I Believe, since Yoga is our Treasure bestowed as blessings to us, we should Value and Practice it.

>  Thanks to our Honorable Prime Minister, Modiji, who has been instrumental to create the Fresh Air Again for Yoga, Ayurveda, our age-old Traditions. This has got India a good place also on International Platform.

>  Coming to Meditation, its a connection of Self, Soul and Supreme Power. However, People shy from it, coz they connote it to be Religious or something to be done at Old age for Peace and Self-time This is a Myth

Meditation, is to Be with yourself. That Self-time is very necessary.

It connects you to the Truth.

>  It brings about overall Rejuvenation for Mind and Soul, which is so helpful in today's Stressful, Hush-Rush Life. People, today, cannot handle the Lone time. They do not know what to do in tht Pause state or Space of Zero. It can be seen today, in this Pandemic, many people could not bear the Stagnancy in life, did not know how to utilise the Extra time given by Nature,

>  However, In this Pandemic, Many were so happy with this Pause in their Busy lives, Self-time and family - time, which they missed before the Pandemic.

>  Here, is the Main Role played by Yoga and Importantly Meditation.

>  I have been so fortunate to learn some of the Wonderful practices of Meditation like Candle Meditation, Meditation involving Dhyaan on your Breath, Object Meditation, Cyclic Meditation, Chakra Meditation, etc. There are so many more wonderful Meditative tools.

My life has changed with having Yoga and Meditation, as a part of my life. Whenever, I disconnect with them on many days, I feel there is Something missing in my Daily Routine.

>  So guys, please get a good Yoga Teacher Professional for your Health Physically and Mentally

In Mumbai, My Brother in law runs a Yoga Studio, Institute Called Utsav Insitute at Ghatkopar. He is a certified Yoga Teacher, member on Empanelment Board for Yoga, and more accolades associated with Yoga and Meditation. He is also associated with Yoga For Parkinsons and conducts Personal Sessions for Therapeutic Yoga

I have also got the opportunity due to two Ophthalmologists in my family - My father in law and my husband, to learn Vision Yoga Therapy too. It is a great practice to get rid of Spectacles. I have a previous Blog written on it. Do read it.

Is Affordable Healthcare A Piped Dream In India?????

Hello Friends,

Before I start this Topic, let me first clarify the meaning of the phrase " PIPED DREAM". It means An Unattainable or A Fancy Possibility.

Well, getting Back to the Topic ---

Doctors, in India, were Considered, same as God. However, the Doctor-Patient relationship; today has gone to some other level of Animosity, Stress, Distrust. This Brutal Truth has to be analysed further.

In yester years, doctors were dedicated to the welfare of the patient's welfare first. Ayurveda is an age-old and time-tested Branch of Medicine in Inida. The knowledge was procured with great " Saadhana". The Trails of the Medicinal Herbs were not done in any lab. The rapport of the Physician with Nature; gave its bounds of knowledge of Medicine and Healthcare. The Ancient Ayurveda-acharyas used to make the medicines in their own clinic or home set-up.The herbs were gift from Nature, jungles. Thus, the cost of study, medicines were low. The defects, then, were the time taken for knowing and practising those medicines on patients and the lack of technology, to speeden up the process of diagnosing or testing. However, the great Scholars of Ayurveda, just by mere "Naadi- Parikshan" -- The art of diagnosing by reading the pulse; would find the root-cause and later treat them accordingly.

With the advancement of science & technology, in the field of Health-care, the age span of life increased. Tests, Trials and proof-based studies started to make their place. If I analyse the whole history of Health-care system in India, starting from doctor to patient to hospitl set-ups to latest medical equipments to Trained staff to specialisation of doctor's practice to the whole Pharmaceutical Industry to The Ministry of Healthcare. The growth in every above facet of medical practice has definitely been massive and humns have succedded to someextent to unravel the secrets of Self, Health and Mind.

However, in the recent 10-15 years of Healthcare Industry, we can see a strong gradual nexus of doctors- Hospitals- Corporates - Pharma Companies.
In this whole evolution of Mankind and in particular the healthcare system, GYAAN i.e. KNOWLEDGE, VIGYAAN i.e. THE SCIENCE as to the questions How has been answered or tackled nicely. However, what is missing or rather Vansihed is the VIVEK part i.e. the Question Why and Humanity.

it is very saddening to know, I, being a great fan of studying and analysing Pharma Industry very closely; everything has gone MONEY - CENTRIC. Today, whatever Pandemics, major natural climatic changes happening are due to this Mind-set only What is really missing in every facet of life today, is Being Human or Valuing Human- Centric Values. Today, in Corona issue, PM MOdiji & Govt. may have taken very nice and proactive steps for the country, helping the Poor by providing mere medicines and health-care services at affordable or free rates.

However, as a human being, as a child of Mother Nature, as a citizen of World Community and Country India; we are forgetting to ask the Big Questions

Why still people are thinking or there is a necessity for a human to think to provide basic facilities to the so-called Needy class?

Why is every country still in the race of securing its own place on the World Platform and stand out from others?

Why cannot we take still, this World as our Own Big Home and all humans as a Part of a Big Family??

Hence, According to me, until such Mindset does not change from Money Centric to Empathy for Human and its Humanity; the Affordable healthcare or any free service for needy is still a Piped Dream in India. The class - differentiation has to be eradicated, today's poor or for that matter, every Indian citizen, should value the Hard-work, Human efforts and then the Money- which is just a mere symbol of Exchange for Value of goods and services.

In the end, there is exploitation of a class, caste, community, poor-rich, hard-working - true tax-payers, hard-earned money makers, true sons of Earth - Farmers, etc. However, the positive or Rather a ray of Hope in this Darkness; I saw the recognition and Return of our Country's age-old treasure of Ayurveda and Yoga.

If the field of Ayurveda and Yoga are still considered Alternative Therapies and the Other recent Prodigy of Science - Allopathy is considered as the Mainstream Branch of Medicine; I do not see major changes of welfare in the Indian Health-care System.


Its Time To Collaborate than be Competive today


Hence, if the Doctor Fraternity, Govt., Pharma Industry, all Branches of Medicine (Pathies) go hand-hand and come on the same Platform, the future of Indian Health-care would see a New Rising Sun for sure.
